Return & Refund Policy

Last Updated: 6 October 2026

At Engines Pty Ltd, we are committed to providing customers with quality automotive engines, gearboxes, transmissions, and other automotive parts. We understand that occasionally a product may need to be returned. This policy explains when returns, replacements, and refunds may be available and how to request them.

1. Return Period

Customers should contact Engines Pty Ltd within 14 days of receiving their order if they wish to request a return, replacement, or refund.

For products that arrive damaged, defective, incorrect, or materially different from the product description, customers should contact us as soon as possible after delivery.

Returns outside the applicable return period may not be accepted unless required by applicable consumer law or otherwise agreed by Engines Pty Ltd.

2. Eligible Returns

A return may be considered where:

  • The wrong product was supplied by Engines Pty Ltd.

  • The product arrives damaged and the damage was caused before or during delivery.

  • The product is defective or does not correspond materially with its advertised description.

  • The product qualifies for a return under applicable consumer protection laws.

  • Engines Pty Ltd has specifically approved the return in writing.

For used, rebuilt, refurbished, or second-hand automotive components, the condition of the product at the time of return must be consistent with the approved return conditions.

3. Automotive Engines, Gearboxes and Used Parts

Because automotive engines, gearboxes, transmissions, and other mechanical components can be installed, modified, dismantled, or damaged after delivery, we may require information, photographs, videos, diagnostic reports, or other evidence before approving a return.

A product may not qualify for a return where damage or failure has resulted from:

  • Incorrect installation.

  • Incorrect fitting or application.

  • Modification or alteration of the product.

  • Improper use or misuse.

  • Overheating, lack of lubrication, contamination, or neglect.

  • Failure to follow installation or operating instructions.

  • Continued use after a fault or warning sign became apparent.

  • Damage occurring after delivery that was not caused by Engines Pty Ltd.

  • Dismantling or disassembly without our prior written approval.

Where applicable, installation should be performed by a suitably qualified automotive professional.

4. Incorrect or Damaged Orders

If you receive an incorrect or visibly damaged item, please contact Engines Pty Ltd as soon as possible.

Please provide:

  • Your order number.

  • Your full name and contact details.

  • Details of the issue.

  • Photographs of the product and packaging.

  • Any other information reasonably required to investigate the issue.

We will review the information and advise you whether the item should be returned, replaced, repaired, or otherwise resolved.

5. Change-of-Mind Returns

Change-of-mind returns are subject to approval and the specific circumstances of the order.

Because many automotive parts are large, heavy, used, refurbished, specially sourced, or prepared specifically for an order, some products may not be eligible for change-of-mind returns.

Where a change-of-mind return is approved, the customer may be responsible for return transportation and any applicable costs communicated before the return is authorised.

6. Return Authorisation

Do not send an item back without first contacting Engines Pty Ltd and receiving return instructions.

Unauthorised returns may cause delays in processing your request.

Once a return has been approved, we will provide the applicable return instructions and return address.

7. Return Shipping Costs

Where an item is confirmed to have been supplied incorrectly, damaged before delivery, or defective in circumstances for which Engines Pty Ltd is responsible, we will determine the appropriate return-shipping arrangement.

For approved change-of-mind or customer-caused returns, the customer may be responsible for reasonable return shipping and transportation costs.

Return shipping arrangements will be confirmed before the return is made.

8. Inspection of Returned Products

All returned products may be inspected before a replacement or refund is approved.

For mechanical components, the inspection may include checking the product’s condition, identifying numbers, serial numbers, seals, installation marks, physical damage, modifications, and other relevant evidence.

Where a product has been altered, dismantled, installed incorrectly, or damaged after delivery, the return or refund may be declined to the extent permitted by applicable law.

9. Refunds

Where a refund is approved, Engines Pty Ltd will process the refund using the original payment method where reasonably possible.

Refunds will generally be processed after the returned product has been received and inspected, where an inspection is required.

The time for the funds to appear in the customer’s account may depend on the payment provider or financial institution.

10. Replacements and Exchanges

Where appropriate and available, Engines Pty Ltd may offer a replacement or exchange instead of a refund.

Replacement availability depends on stock and product suitability.

If an equivalent replacement is unavailable, we will discuss the available resolution with the customer.

11. Warranty

Where a product is supplied with a specific manufacturer or seller warranty, the applicable warranty terms will apply.

Warranty coverage does not automatically cover damage caused by incorrect installation, misuse, modification, neglect, or other circumstances excluded by the applicable warranty.

Customers should retain their invoice, order information, and any warranty documentation.

12. Consumer Rights

Nothing in this policy is intended to exclude, restrict, or replace any consumer rights or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded under applicable consumer protection legislation.

Where applicable law provides a customer with rights that are greater than those described in this policy, those legal rights will continue to apply.

13. How to Request a Return or Refund

To request a return, replacement, or refund, please contact Engines Pty Ltd and provide:

  • Full name.

  • Order number or invoice number.

  • Product purchased.

  • Date of purchase and delivery.

  • Reason for the return or refund request.

Our team will review the request and provide further instructions.
